Soy Wax - What is it & its characteristics?

Does your candle look "funny" after it has become solid after burning? This is just one of the many characteristics of a pure soy wax candle.  AmbiEscents does NOT add any additives to their candles. No additives to make it stay the same colour for its life, no additives to make it smooth after every burn. No additives at all. So rest assured, an AmbiEscents candle is a pure soy candle.
Soy wax is made from soybean oil, thats it.  The beans are harvested, cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled. The oil is extracted from the flakes and then hydrogenated to convert some fatty acids from unsaturated to saturated. This dramatically alters the melting point of the oil so that is becomes solid at room temperature. To date, America grows the vast majority of the world's soy beans, primarily in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana. The greatest advantage of soy - it is completely renewable. The limit on soy availability is solely down to how much soy farmers want to grow it.

While candle performance speaks for itself, soy wax is truly a dream! Soy candles have a beautiful natural creamy presence. However, over time, the wax starts playing "tricks":
- It may take on a slight, natural hue from the fragrance oil used
- Room temperature variations on the candles surface can cause "frosting" around the edges or it may make the surface look uneven (Blooming). This characteristic is actually the soy wax/vegetable oil's crystallization back to it's more natural state. These effects are not a change the quality of your candle, it is its unique process distinctive to pure soy wax.
- There may be times you will see tiny air bubbles appear.  Again, this is a sign of natural soy. Air can get trapped during production and pouring of the wax into it's container.
- When room temperature gets above 30 degrees, you may see "sweating" on the surface. This is a sign the wax is becoming soft and its natural oils may appear in the form of beads. This is completely normal.

If your candle is showing any of these signs, then you know that it has been made with 100% soy wax.
